LIGHT
Jesus is the LIGHT of the World we shine!
We believe that Jesus is good, His gospel is good news for all who would receive it and our mission is to shine the light of Christ into this world.
Jesus is the light of the world (John 8:12) and He calls us to be the light of the world (Matt. 5:14) and that light leads to life.
John 8:12 Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, "I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won't have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life."
This theme is all throughout scripture but it is clearly the call of followers of Christ here in Matthew where we, the people of God, are called by Jesus in the sermon on the mount to be the light of the world.
Matthew 5:14-16 "You are the light of the world-like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone will praise your heavenly Father."
We are not simply followers of Jesus. We have a mission to share the good news of Jesus Christ to the world and shine!
LIFE
Jesus is the way, the truth and the LIFE!
We recognize that Christ has made the way for all to know Him by His death and resurrection becoming the atoning sacrifice for the sinsof all humanity throughout all time. He is the only path to God and all people need to know this good news that leads to life in the fullest.
John 14:6 Jesus told him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me."
Jesus is the source of all good things in life and desires to bring good things into the lives of all people. Sunnyside exists to lead people to experience life in Christ.
John 10:10 The theif's purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.
KING
Jesus is the KING of Kings and Lord of Lords!
Jesus is not just a friend, or a good teacher, He is saviour, Lord, and He is King. As King He rules our lives. He is a good and just King, one that gives up His own life for His people and seeks the good of all.
We are called to be servants of the King and following Jesus is about joining in what God is doing and serving as His royal ambassadors.
2 Corinthians 5:20-21 We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ's behalf: Be reconciled to God. God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
1 Timothy 6:15-16 At just the right time Christ will be revealed from heaven by the blessed and only almighty God, the King of all kings, and Lord of all lords. He alone can never die, and he lives in light so brilliant that no human can approach him. No human eye has ever seen him, nor ever will. All honour and power to him forever! Amen.
KINGDOM
Your KINGDOM come on Earth as it is in Heaven!
Our vision is to see the Earth become more and more like Heaven as the Kingdom of God invades our world. God will complete this work in the last days but we contribute in living out the Kingdom reality on Earth through the power of the Holy Spirit. God does not simply saves us for Heaven, He transforms us and delivers us now in this life through the power of His Holy Spirit and this is the same power that raised Christ from the dead. It is available to all who accept Him as King and Lord.
To be in the Kingdom is to be under the rule of God as Lord and Saviour and King.
1 Corinthians 4:20 For the Kingdom of God is not just a lot of talk; it is living in God's power.
Matthew 6:10 Your Kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
